carpe diem

Sweetest journey's end
whispers warm on parted lips
now is enough love

Kristjaan asked us to distill a haiku from a well-known longer work. I took my inspiration from the example he shared, Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Join us at carpe diem.

O Mistress mine, where are you roaming?
O stay and hear! your true-love’s coming
That can sing both high and low;
Trip no further, pretty sweeting,
Journeys end in lovers’ meeting—
Every wise man’s son doth know.

What is love? ’tis not hereafter;
Present mirth hath present laughter;
What’s to come is still unsure:
In delay there lies no plenty,—
Then come kiss me, Sweet-and-twenty,
Youth’s a stuff will not endure.

  12. I have a hard time being satisfied with the amount of now love in my life but I celebrate those who are. And therefore your poem is a goal for me rather than a declaration.
