Inspiration at Ford & Inkster
There they were: sitting on the corner,
squat and round, cackling like pigeons
congregating in a busy downtown square.
Their squawking rising and dipping while
they ate Fritos and slurped Mountain Dew,
waving at the cars going by.

A scene played out in many cities every day. I like this.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ma'am.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I can hear the "cackling" :)
ReplyDeleteIt's not a bad life, really!
ReplyDeleteYou painted the scene in realistic colours. Great imagery.
ReplyDeleteI like the sounds - cackling, squawking and slurping ~ I think I some of them around here too ~ Smiles ~
ReplyDeleteYou described this brief scene with great attention to sensory details: the taste of Fritos, the cackling and squawking and the final wave of the hand all adds such life to the piece.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful description, in so few words. I felt I was there.

Thank you, Kay. I'm a bus commuter. I see life up close and personal. :-)
ReplyDeleteLaTonya, welcome to the Toads!
ReplyDeleteI have lived in many cities and am, too, a people watcher like you. The cackles and the Fritos were my favorites... there is a busy pigeon-style bustle to their tarrying! Peace, Amy
