after moon

under a harvest moon
i traced each curve and bone
alabaster smooth
a dream dried and crushed
by autumn's morning light.

for Marian's harvest moon challenge
and Kerry's tanka prompt.

  1. oooh! I really love this tanka, LaTonya. There is something so timeless in the depiction of the moon, each line resonates.

Just one small correction: the harvest moon was Marian's challenge, but the tanka was mine. You have a kind of combo going on here :-)

  5. quite emotional last couple lines there...esp on the heals of the intimacy of tracing the curve and bone...

  7. Loss of love, dreams unfulfilled... "by autumn's morning light," crushed... this is sad but poignant, LaTonya. Lovely and still has a tear in its eye. Amy

  9. Alas, will the night never linger?
Soft to the touch, lined in silk.
    Tender.
    What more need be said?
    Cheers!
