seventeen minutes
seventeen minutes is a ritual
born out of necessity
seventeen minutes is the distance
between home and daily commute
seventeen minutes of outside meditation
walks down the pressure
seventeen minutes is portal, morning
respite where healing begins.

A great number, 17 is for you. I wish I could meditate for 17 whole minutes. = )
ReplyDeletecool on that forced 17 minutes you spend commuting... if i go on my bike to work i have an hour to relax and meditate and leave the working day behind..it's a good time... very cool
ReplyDeleteClaudia, not forced really. I had a job once where my connection was downtown versus catching a bus outside my door which I do now. I timed what was the average time it took me to get to my stop. My actual commute was an hour and half. :-)
DeleteSeventeen minutes to cleanse the stress. Nice
ReplyDeleteI came to rely on it. Very much enjoyed the time.
Delete17 minutes is a great span.. And meditation while walking sounds like a great way to start the day. Myself it's 35 minutes on bicycle ;-)
ReplyDeleteMister was a cyclist. I've been plodding him to buy a new bike. He left riding behind when he relocated to be with me.
Deletei feel you there...mine is an hour drive...but its through a rather pastoral landscape that is refreshing allowing me to unload...its def like a meditation to bring back and release what the day has given me...
ReplyDeletewould love to ride through that kind of scenery.
Deletewhat all we can do in a span of 17 minutes... a lovely creation... :-)
ReplyDeletethose 17 minutes are precious. my precious ones are 23. so necessary, too...
ReplyDeletegreat approach, Tonya!

Great that you can use those minutes so effectively!
ReplyDeleteGreat piece!
ReplyDeleteOmg. Before they tore up the main street of my burb and i had to change my routine until they finish, I had a--wait for it--seventeen minute walk to the bus stop! My early morning and late afternoon meditation time. No music no phone, just my thoughts. I miss it but won't have it back til mid October.
ReplyDelete....i tell ya, i have to travel for more than or less than 2hours goin' to work then another set of hours back home everyday... & the set up kills me to highest level...thank goodness that was before for i have already moved out... i travel less now & more at ease though still more than 17 mins... hhihi... loved this LaTonya... smiles...
