after moon

under a harvest moon
i traced each curve and bone
alabaster smooth
a dream dried and crushed
by autumn's morning light.

for Marian's harvest moon challenge
and Kerry's tanka prompt.

  1. oooh! I really love this tanka, LaTonya. There is something so timeless in the depiction of the moon, each line resonates.

Just one small correction: the harvest moon was Marian's challenge, but the tanka was mine. You have a kind of combo going on here :-)

  7. Loss of love, dreams unfulfilled... "by autumn's morning light," crushed... this is sad but poignant, LaTonya. Lovely and still has a tear in its eye. Amy
